RAIL-TRAFFIC SIGNALLING AND ERTMS OF THE DANUBE BRIDGE SECTION VIDIN – CALAFAT

CAF Signalling and “TRIA Ingeniería”, were jointly awarded the contract for the communications and signalling of the Vidin – Calafat railway link between Rumania and Bulgaria which is being executed by the Spanish developer Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC).

TRIA is a Spanish company which undertakes its activity in the railway sector. It specialises in automatic width change and civil protection and communications installations, with numerous references in the network managed by ADIF.

On a joint basis, TRIA Ingeniería and CAF Signalling have been selected as the contractors for Railway Signalling and Communications, including ERTMS for the new railway corridor between Bulgaria and Rumania, with the control of various stations on the Bulgarian side. This contract is proof of the efficiency of Spanish technology and engineering to develop projects on an international stage and with the high capacities of the systems to be implemented.

The contract awarded to us includes the implementation of the first electronic interlocks and the first ERTMS system in the Bulgarian railway network based on the Spanish technology and engineering developed by our companies. This represents the possibility of being able to apply Spanish technologies to other companies taking into account the enlargement and development of new railway corridors within the EU programme.

The planned solution for railway signalling is based on electronic interlocks type S3e, and LEUs with high-end features and based on the strictest quality requirements according to CENELEC standards.

The scope offered focuses on the cab equipment for railway signalling as well as engineering and its commissioning without including the supply of field equipment, wiring, components and detectors, civil works etc.

This contract includes the supply and installation of the complete equipment, as well as its integration into the current equipment.
